Position Purpose (For Colorado County, Texas)
A versatile position within a passionate service-oriented dynamic nonprofit that provides relief to survivors of natural disasters. This part-time position (12-month duration, ~ 20 hours a week) will require understanding the vaccine hesitancy of the communities impacted by the pandemic. Our area of interest will be communities with a very low vaccination rate. Understanding their viewpoints and needs to overcome vaccine hesitancy would be of utmost importance. This is a remote job that will require research, community outreach, and visits to the respective county as and when required.

Community Liaison is a half-time position and will be accountable to the Outreach Program Manager for the successful implementation of the vaccination outreach initiatives at respective local levels. Candidate with an ability to bridge the communication gap between the community and Sewa team thus increasing the impact of outreach.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Acts as an advisor to Events Manager for all the matters relating to assigned areas of responsibility for the purpose of providing information to meet the goals and objectives assigned to them
  • Attends all the Sewa meetings and community organizations for the purpose of developing a presence in the community
  • Collaborates with internal (Sewa) and external stakeholders for the purpose of building effective communication, enhancing relationships, and ensuring a high quality of service delivery to achieve performance goals and objectives
  • Recommends responses and action plans as a result of interacting with external stakeholders ensuring effective communication Practices to meet the assigned goals and objectives, & to provide Sewa International with visibility. Coordinate with community leaders for potential outreach activities in the community.
  • Designs in conjunction with the event manager and program manager the implementation and solicitation of feedback from external stakeholders for the purpose of improving services and programs provided & forecasting future needs of the community
  • Working at ground level, coordinating door-to-door outreach depending on the requirement of the community to ensure the success of the program.
  • Support Events Manager in conducting local events to expand outreach
  • Mobilize community volunteers for various activities at the local events, engage the community and volunteers to ensure effective communication, and be the friendly face in the neighborhood
  • Prepares and delivers written and oral communication to a variety of stakeholders(Sewa International, local community leaders, schools, church, and others)

Key Requirements:

  • Motivated high school graduates with an interest in Healthcare can also apply.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations and communications programs and/or marketing campaign strategies
  • General knowledge about community engagements
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and statistics, to develop meaningful reports from that information, knowledge of computers will be required for data compilation, sharing and reporting as required.
  • Ability to make oral presentation before large / small groups of people
  • Ability to work internally and externally with a broad base of partners Bilingual – Spanish preferred. Arabic, Pashto, Vietnamese, Chinese a plus
  • Ability to lift promotional material and light equipment (up to 25 lbs) Frequent Travel to within the local counties around the Houston/Dallas/Austin metropolitan area.
